Heart No. 2

As discussed in my previous post, I felt the heart needed to have greater impact and be more three dimensional. I looked at many different illustrations of the heart, and decided to pursue the idea of layering multiple images on top of each other, cutting away less and less each time to give the impression of depth. I thought it would be interesting to do this for both the right and left sides of the heart and join them together.

Unfortunately the best images I could find showing the left and right sides of the heart were of a pretty poor quality. So I decided to draw my own version and then photoshopped the results to make them appear a bit darker.

The finished model when the various layers were joined together is pictured below.

The new version certainly sits better in the pinball layout, and has a bit more impact.

However if ┬átime permits I think it might be worth revisiting to see it could be improved further. I’d like to improve the drawings used and also experiment with cutting the cross sections, so that the transition from left to right at the back of the model is a more gradual one.
